Apply For A Library Card

Your library card is your key to all the resources New York City’s public libraries have to offer. In addition to borrowing library materials, your card will let you reserve a computer, download digital media, search hundreds of electronic databases, and more.

Teens and adults may apply online for a library card at the following:

Brooklyn Public Library

New York Public Library (locations in The Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island)

Queens Public Library

Print out a library card application & apply in-person at your local library (all ages/all boroughs)

Library card terms and conditions may differ among the three systems. Check the individual NYC public library websites for a full explanation.

Children may apply for library cards along with their parent or guardian at their local NYC library. Check with the individual NYC library systems for terms and conditions.

NYC Family Guide

The 2010-2011 NYC Family Guide contains useful information for families about the City’s Children First school reforms, what students are learning, and the kinds of services that are available to the City’s public school students. It also provides information about how families can get involved in their children’s education—and how they can find answers, help, and support.
